Taxi drivers on go-slow after strike ends
Clemans Miyanicwe
THE president of Namibia Transport and Taxi Union (NTTU), Werner Januarie, has announced that the taxi driver strike has been suspended.
“The strike was suspended on Saturday but the taxi drivers are on a go-slow,” Januarie said.
According to him the go-slow is intended to frustrate government.
“People (taxi drivers) are driving around but not with an intention to pick up passengers,”.
Suspension is a temporary measure while awaiting parliament to address the issues concerning taxi drivers, Januarie said.
“We will wait on the parliament and, if not happy, take the matter to the court,” Januarie said.
