Pain is Not Love
Nangula knew it was wrong but she wanted it anyway.

She knew he had to go but her heart yearned for him to stay.

He stayed and it was the best night of her life... Or so she thought.

Two weeks later, she feels weak

She knows what has come

The one thing she dreaded most

Her exceptional night of passion left her knocked up, she’s pregnant!

She runs to him and shares the news

He doesn’t hesitate or give an excuse,

he asks her to marry

Oh, what a delight! She screams “yes!”

Her heart is at ease.

Days go by and he thinks again...

“Can I afford all this again?”

He tells her she can’t keep it, “what about school?”

“What will the people say?”

She tries to see reason and agrees to all he suggests,

but she thinks twice, she doubts.

She hesitates, she remembers:

“Why can’t we just marry then and all will be well?”

“Shut up!” he says, “or you’ll raise it alone.”

Again she thinks to herself, and lowers her head.

There’s no way out.

He organises a contact, here it comes.

“You’ll have an abortion,” he announces.

“Will you still marry me?” she pronounces.

“Yes, my dear,” he retorts.

Days pass, weeks pass, he’s getting agitated, she’s growing attached...

“Why can’t we keep it, Tom?”

“Keep it alone!”

Silence.

She finally makes up her mind.

She’s going to do it if it means keeping Tom.

He gets half the money, the rest is up to her.

Before the deed is done, Tom says they’re no more.

Why Tom? Let’s work it out. After what I’m about to do, how do you just walk out?

“Leave me be and take care of that thing before it shows!”

She runs helter and skelter to get the money...

Finally she collects it, Tom dares to call her ‘honey’.

“No more nonsense, Thomas. I’m done being your fool.”

She has the abortion and returns to school.

Thomas in her past, with everything to loose.

Determined about her future, shunning her past

She gets her priorities in order again. Fast!

You don’t have to be Nangula.

Real men are not Thomas.
