Parties urged to recall Khorixas councillors

THE former United Democratic Front Youth League (UDFYL) former Secretary General, Reginald Roman, has urged Swapo and UDF to recall their councillors at the Khorixas Town Council due to lack of development.
“The councillors of the two parties must become serious. The community receives nothing from them in terms of development,” Roman said. He claimed administrative staff at the Khorixas municipality are more powerful than the councillors.
“The community want to get answers from the elected,” Roman said.
He added that during the reign of Matheas Tsaeb as mayor, development was noticeable.
Roman pointed to the tarring of a three kilometre road as an example of development under Tsaeb and lashed out at Khorixas mayor Trypohosa Moloto for being too ‘soft’.
“During the ACC investigations, Moloto should have publicly rebuked or suspended those involved but she did nothing,” Roman said.
The Chief Executive Officer of Khorixas, Nicodemus #Gaeseb, head of human resources Eben Xoagub and housing chief Daniel Geiseb were arrested for corruption about two years ago.
Roman said he will advocate for the recall of UDF councillors at the national executive committee meeting, which will take place in Otjiwarongo next month.
“I don’t have personal issues with them; they are my friends and comrades, but in terms of serving people there is a problem,” Roman explained.
Ellis Geiriseb of the Khorixas Swapo district committee agreed with Roman also indicating that there was lack of development.
However, Geiriseb did not support the recall of councillors but said “some commit themselves to work for the community but others know that they do nothing”.
