Police launch operation

IN a bid to reduce crime the Namibian Police completed a three day patrol and raid operation called Usalama.
The operation was part of the Southern African and Eastern Regional Police Chief Cooperation and happened simultaneously in member countries of the region.
The police raided schools, private residences and erected roadblocks where they confiscated illegal weapons and drugs.
Commissioner Festus Shilongo headed the operation and promised to reveal more details on the operation.
It is believed that in the three day operation, five illegal firearms were found, and dagga was found both in people’s homes and schools. The operation started on Tuesday and ended on Thursday. Police targeted mainly Windhoek North, Khomasdal and Katutura.
