Rehoboth victors in derby
Staff Reporter
REHOBOTH defeated Reho Falcon 29-16 in a fiercely contested derby in Rehoboth on Saturday to all but end their bitter rivals’ ambition of securing a top-five finish.
Falcon gave their supporters plenty to cheer about as they took the game to the log leaders, battering them with speed and determination to take a deserved 16-6 into the break.
Falcon’s Leslie van Wyk had scored the only try of the game up to that point.
However, the Eden Meyer coached Rehoboth recovered from their first half slumber in spectacular fashion in the second half.
Rehoboth came back scored three tries through Natin van Wyk, Yoshiro Classen and Johan Wollar with Howard Titus contributing four penalties to secure derby bragging rights and top spot with a 29-16 victory.
Suburbs kept pace with Rehoboth after they beat United 29-16 in a match that produced only one try from Suburbs.
They remain in second place while United stay third.
Unam trounced Polytech 47-19 to displace Falcon from fourth position, while Wanderers ran in nine tries to one as they beat Walvis Bay 58-10.
Kudus were awarded points against Mariental, who failed to honour the fixture.
