Cancer booklet raises awareness

Karas Regional Science Fair a success
Some future scientists in Karas Region recently gathered in Keetmanshoop to present their work at the annual Regional Science Fair.
When the dust settled on Friday 26 July, out of the 207 participants 20, who won grand prizes and gold medals, were selected to represent the region at the upcoming National Science Fair.

‘Healing Hands’ Master Maths candidates make strides
The candidates sponsored by Prosperity Group’s Healing Hands initiative for Master Maths are doing well, says Director of Development for the Prosperity Group, Johan Struwig.
The Prosperity Group announced the sponsorship during episode 10 of ‘Healing Hands’ flighted on One Africa Television and on Radiowave during December 2012. The initiative gives the eight most promising students from De Duine High School in Walvis Bay supporting tuition in maths and science.

Almost 500 youth to benefit from NYS free training programme
The National Youth Service (NYS) enlisted 495 youth from all 13 regions of the country, to benefit from its training programme during its seventh intake. The recruited youth commenced with preparation of their Civic training in June at the NYS Ondangwa Training Centre. The official opening took place on Friday, 19 July in Ondangwa and included an address by The Minister of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, Jerry Ekandjo.

Khorixas based Cornelius Goreseb High School visited various institutions in Windhoek on their first ever educational trip, paid in full by the Kunene Region’s Education Directorate. The educational tour took place between Tuesday, 16 July to Friday, 19 July.

Former College of the Arts Student plays Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto
The College of the Arts’ annual Concerto Festival will present a special production this year with Willem van Schalkwyk performing as the guest artist. He will perform Tchaikovsky’s ‘Second Piano Concerto’ together with the Namibian National Symphony Orchestra (NNSO).
