Docket thieves still at large
By: DENVER KISTINGBY yesterday, no one had been arrested in connection with the theft of three dockets from the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court last week.
But Chief Inspector Barry de Klerk said the Police are following up information and hope to make a breakthrough soon.
The three stolen dockets contained information on a robbery with aggravating circumstances, one on theft by false pretences and one on fraud, De Klerk said.
On Friday, it was reported that the three dockets were stolen from the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
The burglars stole the dockets from the office of a prosecutor at this court.
They gained entry through a small window above the office door. The theft was discovered on Wednesday morning when employees reported for work.
It is understood that the lack of proper security at this court makes a break-in very easy.
Following the burglary, security is being jacked up. On Friday, a security company was installing closed-circuit television cameras at strategic points in the building.
