Enduro championship series end
By: STAFF REPORTERTHE eighth and final race in the Bank Windhoek Namibia Motorsport Federation Enduro Championship Series 2011 took place on Saturday at Gross Barmen.
Fifty riders participated in the race, covering 180 kilometres over difficult terrain of rocks and jeep track. This was the first time a race held at the venue and the route markers put some formidable obstacles on the route to challenge machine and rider.
The start sequence of the competitors was based on championship standings after the previous seven rounds.
In the Class 1 battle for bikes it was Jörn Greiter that walked away victorious over Claude Brendel to secure second for the season ahead of Brendel. Dirk Hohmeier had to surrender his second place in the championship and fall out of the overall podium after having mechanical difficulties that forced him out with no result. In the class 2 battle it was Kai Hohmeier that won the day. In the national Quads class Clinton Hilfiker rode a great race to beat second place Bart Steyl on the day, Fanie Steenkamp managed a third place after some mechanical problems to secure the one point needed to win the class for the season.

In the 200cc Class, Jörn Greiter secured victory ahead of Claude Brendel and Wanjo Kollmitz in second and third respectively. Kai Hohmeier secured victory in the open class while in the National Quad Class, Clinton Hilfiker beat Bart Steyl into second and Fanie Steenkamp finished third.
The National Senior Bike Class saw Werner Schultz earn the victory ahead of Andreas Brendel and Stefan Goike in second and third respectively.
Garry Rowland was first in the Senior Quads followed by Carsten Hohmeier in second.
In the Support Bikes, Timothy Frohwerk finished ahead of Phillip Mentrup and Glen Brown in second and third respectively.

The Junior Quad Class was won by Shannon Rowland as Lotario van Wyk and Julia Moths came second and third respectively.
In the new class 10 battle for beginner bikes Eugene Koen emerged victorious ahead of second-placed Billy Heigan and Jakkie van der Wald in third.
This endurance race was organised by the Working Group of the Namibian Enduro Club and co-sponsored by Waldschmidt Eggs.
A prize giving function of the Namibian Enduro Club is scheduled for the November 12 to recognise all the achievements for the year.
