Mortars defused in village
RUNDU - The Namibian Police Explosives Unit regional commander here, Inspector Andrew Shilelo, has commended residents of Ndongalinena village - about 80 kilometres east of Rundu - for promptly reporting explosive devices they found in their village.
Shilelo said the villagers' action demonstrated the usefulness of
programmes that promoted awareness of dangerous explosives in the
community.
He said the unit had found two small live mortars in the area
and removed them.
A villager, Bernard Mberema, said local people had found the two
mortars near a soccer field this morning.
