Crime In Short
Charged with brother's murder * AT Okahao, in the Omusati Region, Police have charged a man (18) with attempted murder of his brother.
Sergeant Lineekela Shikongo said the man, Ruben David, allegedly
shot and injured his younger brother, Sakaria Kashagwa (15) in the
chest with a 9-mm pistol.
Shikongo said the shooting took place at Omakuku village, in
Uukwambi tribal district, when the brothers were, according to
various reports, either chasing a chicken around the homestead
prior to slaughtering it or out hunting a hawk.
Kashagwa was admitted to the Oshakati state hospital where
authorities describe his condition as stable.
Violent start to New Year * THE New Year in Namibia was marred
by violent death and armed robbery.
On Friday the Namibian Police reported that Sivambo Malasa (40)
appears to have hanged himself from a cable in his bedroom at farm
Omurassa farm in Otjiwarongo district.
Police said the apparent suicide probably occurred at about
07h00.
Police in Karibib say that Benjamin Hansen (25) died in Usakos
state hospital after being stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle
at a Karibib restaurant, also on Friday.
Two suspects, Randy Keister and Melton Uirab (both 18), were
arrested.
Robbery at gunpoint * POLICE at Outapi, in the Omusati Region,
are investigating an armed robbery case after Romania Pineas was
held at gunpoint and robbed of N$573 and a cellphone worth N$849 at
Onimbu location on New Year's Eve.
NamPol's liaison officer for the region, Sergeant Lineekela
Shikongo, said that an intruder broke into Pineas's bedroom through
the door and demanded money and the phone, threatening her with
death if she did not comply.
Shikongo said it seemed the intruder had been informed that
Pineas, who works for a business at the location, went home with
the day's takings.
For fear of her life, Peneas handed over the money, Shikongo
said, adding that the suspect then fled the scene.
"No arrest has been made".
