Armed robbery at City gambling den

A POPULAR gambling spot in Windhoek, JJ Gambling House, was robbed of N$50 000 on Sunday night.

Five men wearing balaclavas entered the premises after getting out

of a black BMW, and held a security guard and the manager at

gunpoint, the Police reported.

The suspects allegedly stole N$50 000 in cash, two cellphones

and two pistols.

 

The suspects are still at large.

 

* At Eenhana, a nine-year-old boy died after suffering serious

injuries in a fight with another boy.

 

The fight apparently took place on Saturday afternoon.

 

The injured boy died at his parents' home the next day.

 

No suspect has been arrested, Police say, and it is assumed that

no weapons were used by either boy during the fight.

 

* A Windhoek doctor, Dr Paul J Jassen, allegedly hanged himself

at his home in Olympia on Monday afternoon.

 

The doctor is said to have ended his life in his garage.

 

* A late-night stroll past a bar at Okahandja apparently

resulted in two men being shot in their legs on Saturday

morning.

 

Aron Matongo and a friend, identified only as CE Muyunda, were

walking past the 40 Cent Bar in the town's Nau-Aib area when

someone opened fire on them, the Police said yesterday.

 

The men, both aged 24, were admitted to the Okahandja State

Hospital, and are said to be in stable condition.

 

A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the shooting

and charged with attempted murder.

 

* Christof Afrikaner (52) died at Okahandja on Sunday morning

after apparently smashing his head against a wall.

 

According to Police information, Afrikaner tried to hang himself

the previous day, but family members arrived in time to stop

him.

 

The family claim that he smashed his head against the wall

deliberately.

 

He died at the Okahandja State Hospital.

 

* At Oshakati, eight men broke into a house and tied up the

housekeeper before taking N$200 000 from a safe on the

premises.

 

The money belonged to the owner of the Rochas Restaurant at

Oshakati, Police say.

 

The suspects are still at large.

 

* A partly decomposed body was discovered in a container near

TransNamib at Keetmanshoop on Monday.

 

Police reported yesterday that the deceased has not yet been

identified.

 

Police are still investigating the cause of death.
