Haingura dismisses reports of disunity

WINDHOEK - The Secretary General of the Swapo Party's Women's Council, Petrina Haingura, has dismissed claims of disunity in the party wing's ranks.

Haingura said these were rumours spread by ill-informed elements in

society who want to see the downfall of the Women's Council.

"Those are idle dreams and will never happen, you will not

succeed, we will deal with those trying to cause faction and

division tooth an nail with the realm of the constitution of the

council and the party at large," she said.

 

She made these remarks at a media briefing on Monday afternoon,

where she announced the newly elected members of the Women's

Council executive committee and secretariat.

 

They were elected at the council's recent central committee

meeting.

 

The 13 new executive committee members are: Loide

Kandume-Geingos, Loide Kasingo, Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, Rosalia

Nghidinwa, Margareth Mensah-Williams, Rosalia Muashekele-Sibiya,

Marlene Mungunda, Julieth Kavetuna, Mildred Jantjies, Muetulamba

Shingenge-Haipinge, Tonata Shipena, Doreen Sioka and Netumbo

Nandi-Ndaitwah.

 

At the first meeting of the executive, six secretariat members

were elected to various portfolios.

 

They are: Mildred Jantjies (Assistant Secretary for Research and

Documentation), Mwetulamba Shingenge-Haipinge (Finance and

Projects), Margareth Mensah-Williams (Foreign Affairs), Rosalia

Mwashekele-Sibiya (Family and Child Welfare), Pendukeni

Iivula-Ithana (Legal Affairs), Marlene Mungunda (Organisational and

Mobilisation).
