At last. Hot meals again for school at Oshikuku

By: * OSWALD SHIVUTE at OSHAKATI

FOOD can once again be cooked at the Nuuyoma Senior Secondary School at Oshikuku in the Omusati Region after Government bought four new industrial cookers for the school.

The school's kitchen and dining hall were destroyed by fire in

2004, and since then, food has had to be transported from Oshakati,

30 km away, three times a day.

"This is really a relief to the Nuuyoma Senior Secondary School,

because now the children can again get their food on time and the

food is no longer cold when it is given to them, as the case was

when the food was transported from Oshakati," said Elim Circuit

Inspector Hans Nghixulifwa.

Nghixulifwa said there is still no dining hall at the

school.

However, when Education Minister Nangolo Mbumba visited the

school last week, he promised that the dining hall and kitchen

would be rebuilt as soon as money became available.

This might happen in the next financial year, which starts in

April, he said.

Nghixulifwa also announced that the Ashipala school at Elim in

the Omusati Region would be upgraded from a junior secondary school

to a senior secondary school, offering classes up to Grade 12 and

hostel facilities.

Provision for this would also be made in the next budget, he

said.
