Heavy rains cause power outages in the South

WINDHOEK - People living in the Aranos, Leonardville and Aminuis areas were left without electricity on Tuesday when lashing rain and strong winds damaged power lines

.

NamPower spokesman Chris Ndivanga says 49 wooden poles of the 66

kV main line between Stampriet and Aranos were knocked down.

 

Power to Stampriet, which was also affected, was restored on

Tuesday afternoon.

 

"Our technical staff is working very hard to ensure that power

is restored to customers and residents in the affected areas,"

Ndivanga said.
