I'm concerned with the safety of women living in Namibia.
What is the GRN and the police doing about rape cases nowadays. Its sad to see that most people committing such offences are freed after a certain period of time to just come and commit the same offence again.
In Luderitz alone, about 5 women have been raped and some narrowly escaping this horrifying & life-scarring attack. These all happened in a 3 week period, the last attack was on Monday.
I personally feel that laws protecting such people such as the "Human Rights" should not be taken into consideration when dealing with these culprits.
Harder sentences should be given to these people, because the time that the crime was committed, they didn't even feel pity for the victim.
I strongly feel that rapist should lose their "manhood" or given a sentence not less than 10years WITHOUT parole, but does prison sentencing really address the problem? Since these culprits receive "5 star" treatment in prison anyway, eg. food and accomodation, its home away from home for most.
I'm really sick and tired of these crimes...a walk to your neighbour or your friend just around the corner is not safe anymore.
Drastic measures should be taken to eliminate these loops holes in our society.
Concerned resident of Luderitz.
