Since chinese vendors seem to have figured out how to abuse these forums to post their ads free of charge (something I somehow knew would happen - not that their behaviour ever changes...), please note that every time you reply to one of these crappy advertising junk-messages, they pop again to the top of the topic list, since our great sysop here thought that this would be some kind of great idea. The best way to handle this problem thus is to act just like our sysop: ignore it. While this is just plain lazyness of our sysop. ignoring junk-postings as a user of these forums means that they somehow disapper into the far end of this toopic list - and as such slowly just scroll out of sight. Since our chinese spammers seem to be way too busy to continue harvesting the web for other unprotected forums where they can let loose their automated posting-scripts, the posability is high that they never come back to a posting that wasn't commented on - while at the same time their scripts may be programmed to pick up any new reply posted there to again post some meaningless nonsense as "their" reply, provoking even more reactions from others - the result of which would be that their spam post remains on top of the list, and thus their advertising "goal" (which is simply to put up some wacky link prominently on other websites) is achieved. One word of caution: do not blindly klick on links provided by these spammers. Unless you regularly update your browser with security patches, have javascript disabled and have decided to push Flash overboard, you are bound to be heading for a nasty surprise. If you don't believe it - search Google with the search term "search and destroy", install that malwar-finding app on your system and do a scan for yourself. Make sure your jaw won't hit the table while dropping though... [This article was edited 1 times, at last 29.04.2009 at 14:10.] |

But since our "sysop" seems to not really listen to our requests (each of the posts has a "report" button next to it, so actually a concerted effort of all readers to report that nonsense should at some point trigger *some* sort of reaction), we probably have to help ourselves here. One important note: before you check out dubious advertisments here or in suddenly appearing popups ony our system, do yourself a favour and check out the new investigative research engine "Anti-Malvertising" from Google with the name of the company that advertises: http://www.anti-malvertising.com/ Some of these sites are meant to lead you to accept the installation of some sort of malware on your system (or, especially in case of a browser that has not been patched with the latest security patches, install some sort of malware right behind your back - to check what has happened on your system so far, make sure you install Spambot Search & destroy - check out www.safer-networking.org for that tool), so blindly following each and every link you find in such ads may *not* be recommended. Regarding that moron that advertises wax and textiles here, make sure you read this first: http://suckerswanted.blogspot.com/2007/10/shandong-binzhou-xinhui-woollen-textile.html Really a pitty to see a newspaper that claims to be "still telling it like it is" to allow such open and blatant fraud to appear on their site... |
