A landmark newspaper

FOR the first time in the history of daily newspapers in this country, The Namibian has hit a print-run of 40 000 newspapers with today's edition.

As far as we are aware, this number has only been exceeded on a few

occasions, and only by special-edition 'giveaways' of other

publications.

Our advertisers will benefit, and our readers too, because they

have a bumper edition to read this weekend.

Because we belatedly realised that even this number might sell

out early, we wish to point out to readers that we have printed an

additional 2 000 copies of the main paper, but unfortunately these

will not contain the Weekender and Independence supplement, which

were printed earlier in the week.

The additional 2 000 will only be put on sale once the 40 000

are sold out, and so we take this opportunity to apologise to

readers who get their copies late, and without the two

supplements.

Nevertheless, they will still have a very good read at this

historic time in our country's history.
