Golf coaching course at Swakop

SWAKOPMUND - The last of three golf coaching courses by Namibian professional golfer Joe Nawanga started at Swakopmund on Tuesday.

The first course took place at Mariental in the Hardap Region some two weeks ago, followed by another at Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region a week later.

More than 60 pupils attended the coaching clinic at the Swakopmund rugby field on Tuesday.

Speaking at the occasion, Swakopmund Sports Committee (SSC) chairperson Tony Britz said sports development at grassroots level has been neglected for too long, especially golf, which still is a white-dominated sport.

He praised Nawanga and his sponsor, Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) for embarking upon the junior golf coaching clinics.

Yesterday, the course headed to Walvis Bay, and is expected to conclude today.
