Namibians shine at Channel O Awards

CONRAD ANGULA

NAMIBIAN stars pumped up the victory volume at the Channel O Music Awards held at Carnival City in Johannesburg on Thursday night.

Gal Level, Lady May and The Dogg won big! Lady May pulled off a notable one: At first attempt she walked off with the best Dance Video award for 'Chokola', shrugging off competition from the likes of DJ Cleo, DJ Vetkoek and Leroy.

The Dogg beat out the likes of Kabelo, Big Nuz, our own Sunny Boy and the Father of Kwaito and childhood hero, Arthur Mafokate, to take the Best Kwaito award for 'Can You Feel It'.

Last year Gazza netted the prestigious award.

It was third time lucky for our own Gal Level who, despite being up against tough competition including South African stars Danny K, Loyiso and 2Face Idibia, scooped the coveted Best R&B Video for 'Falling In Love'.

The sizzling Namibian female duo are also nominated for the Kora Awards in the Best African Artist Southern Africa category, later this year.

Gal Level and Lady May were the only Namibians nominated in their two categories.

The Namibian duo were amongst the most stunning "in a good-looking room full of people and every one seemingly wanted a piece of the Gal Level girls and Ms May", it was reported on Channel O's official website.
