"There are only two people that will know what happened before the incident, and why it happened," a grieving Izanne Hoon, Gerhard Hoon's sister-in-law, told The Namibian from their home yesterday. According to Police reports, Hoon shot his wife in their home's garage on Wednesday afternoon before going to the main bedroom and turning the gun on himself. Both were shot in the head but survived and were admitted to the Cottage Medi-Clinic, where Gerhard later lost the fight for his life. Muzelle was flown to Windhoek, where her face will be reconstructed. She was shot in the chin, and the bullet is lodged in her skull behind the ear. The shooting allegedly took place in front of their two sons, aged one and five, who are now with relatives and doing "very well", according to Izanne Hoon. She said no funeral arrangements had been made yet. According to the Police, a case of attempted murder and attempted suicide was opened, but may be closed because of Gerhard's death. Gerhard, his mother and brother, Pieter, own the Welwitschia Estates agency. |
