NFA gets new technical director

THE Namibia Football Association (NFA) announced the appointment of a new Technical Director this week.

Klaus Staerk from Germany will be the new TD from the beginning of August.

Staerk replaces Jochem Figge, who was earlier seconded by the Deutsche Fussboll Bund (DFB) to take over from Seth Boois, who resigned towards the end of last year.

It is alleged that Figge faked qualifications on his Curriculum Vitae (CV), hence the appointment of Staerk as the new TD of the NFA.

Figge did not report for duty in Namibia despite the announcement of his appointment by the DFB and NFA early this year.

In a statement issued by the NFA's president John Muinjo on Wednesday, Staerk's agreement was concluded on Monday in Kaiserau, Germany, by DFB's representatives Markus Weidner, Carolin Rickers and Muinjo.

According to Muinjo, the TD will be responsible for the development of football in the country including all regions.

He will also be instrumental in the development of the game in schools, women football and in youth development structures.

"The TD and the head coach need to elaborate well in order to prepare young and senior players under similar principles and following an agreed framework.

The TD will not only be of assistance to the head coach of the men's team but also to the women's and the offspring teams within the association,'' said Muinjo.

The Development of Futsal and Beach Soccer are other areas that will further be investigated by the TD.
