This is the sixth consecutive year that Namibia has been able to send a team to compete.

The competition saw over 200 junior players from all over South Africa taking part and showcased some of the finest upcoming talents in Southern Africa.

Namibia, the only non-South African side at the tournament, is included because of its former status as a province of South Africa in the colonial era.

Seven sides of four players each competed against their South African counterparts.

The Namibian girls' under-14 team was placed third overall and the boys under 14 ended in fifth place.

The under-16 girls finished third and the under-16 boys in sixth place.

The best-placed finish was achieved by the under-19 girls who were second in their group while the boys under 19 (A) team was fifth and the boys under 19 (B) team third.

Trials to select the Namibian under-14, -16 and -19 boys' and girls' teams were held in Walvis Bay in February.

A total of 28 juniors were selected out of 42 young hopefuls.

This school festival is undoubtedly the highlight of the junior squash circuit in Namibia and is vital for the continued development of Namibian youngsters in the sport.
