Western Suburbs remain in pole position

WESTERN Suburbs remained at the top of the MTC Rugby Premier League after notching up their fourth consecutive victory last weekend.

Last Saturday they beat Premier League newcomers Jaguars 25-13 at Augustineum to strengthen their lead at the top of the log with 18 points after four matches.

Their victory against Jaguars, was however not very convincing and the match was frequently interrupted due to ill discipline and foul play on both sides.

Kudus remained second on the log despite having a bye over the weekend.

They are on nine points after winning their opening two matches against Wanderers and Jaguars.

Wanderers recorded their first victory of the season when they beat Grootfontein 22-15 in Grootfontein last weekend.

Wanderers have had their worst start to the league in years, after having previously lost 28-24 to Kudus and 24-21 to United.

Their victory against Grootfontein however puts them up to third position on the log on nine points after three matches.

In another match on Saturday, Rehoboth caused an upset after beating Unam 29-24 at the University of Namibia.

United are fourth on the log on eight points after two matches, followed by Grootfontein (8 after 3 matches), Rehoboth (6 after 2 matches), Reho Falcon (5 points after one match), Jaguars (5 points after 3 matches) and Unam (3 points after two matches).
