Gunplay ends in tragedy

STAFF REPORTER

A SECURITY guard with the Yambulu Security Company died in the Oshakati State Hospital on Thursday after he was accidentally shot in the head with a shotgun.

Lamek Shikongo and a fellow employee were guarding the Ehafo Market at Okahao when he was shot by his partner.

Police information has it that the two were playing with their service weapons when one of the guns accidentally went off.

A case of murder is being investigated.

* A 34-year-old woman was allegedly raped at knifepoint at Keetmanshoop on Thursday.

The suspect, a 25-year-old man, was arrested.

* Two men, aged 18 and 21, were arrested in the Ohangwena Region last Tuesday.

They were charged with the rape of a 45-year-old woman at the Omungwelume settlement.

* The body of a villager from Ondangwa was discovered in a riverbed last Monday.

Police report that only the skeletal remains of the man later identified as Theodore Angula were found at Okalunga kaDaniel village in the Okatyali constituency.

The deceased apparently drowned in the river in April.
