Attempted rape during bar robbery

A BARTENDER at Oshivelo barely escaped being raped on Monday, when two robbers entered the bar where she worked that night.

The woman told the Police that the men, one of them armed with a rifle, tied her legs, arms and mouth with a piece of cloth before undressing her and looting the place.

The culprits made off with N$5 779 in cash and four bottles of brandy.

The woman told the Police that one of the suspects tried to rape her, but was advised by his accomplice not to do so.

Police are investigating charges of armed robbery and attempted rape.

* Two young adults from Okahao were arrested at Uukwalumbe village on Tuesday after one of them allegedly raped a seven-year-old schoolgirl on Monday.

According to the Police, one of the suspects, a 21-year-old woman, called the girl to her while the child was walking home from school.

The woman then apparently took the child to the suspect's home, where she ordered her to get undressed.

The suspect, a 23-year-old man, then allegedly raped the girl.

* Police at Walvis Bay are searching for a taxi driver who allegedly raped a 23-year-old female passenger on Saturday morning.

According to the Police, the suspect stopped his taxi at an open space in Sixth Street and dragged his victim into the darkness.

Besides raping her, he allegedly also stabbed her in the left arm with a knife.
