Govt consultant dies in accident

A MINUTE of silence was observed during the opening of the 2008 Cabinet retreat at Walvis Bay on Monday for Dr Munusuru Rao, a consultant working on the third National Development Plan.

Dr Rao and Sylvia Demas, who is a representative of the National Planning Commission, were on their way from Windhoek to the coast on Sunday when the accident took place.

According to sources, Rao lost control of the vehicle between Usakos and Arandis, causing the car to leave the road and overturn.

He was killed in the accident, while Demas sustained injuries.

She is recuperating in a Swakopmund hospital, Both had been scheduled to participate in the Cabinet retreat, where Rao was to make a presentation this afternoon.
