3 arrested for Windhoek robbery

THREE suspects in a robbery in Windhoek earlier this month were arrested in the Ohangwena Region this week.

The three men are accused of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

They allegedly assaulted their 58-year-old victim, kicking and beating him about the face before making off with their booty.

The Police reported yesterday that they had impounded three vehicles believed to have been bought with the proceeds of the robbery.

Police also impounded nine metal poles, three fencing nets and cash amounts of N$7 200 and U$3 100 that were found on the suspects.

* Police have also reported success in their investigation of a break-in at Eenhana two weekends ago.

They have arrested three suspects allegedly found in possession of a computer, a set of computer speakers, four videocassettes, a DVD player, three remote controls, 53 DVDs, a keyboard, a computer printer, two rolls of rope, a padlock and equipment used for cutting iron bars.

The suspects, two aged 25 and another aged 17, made their first court appearance on the charges in the Eenhana Magistrate's Court on Monday.

* A 28-year-old man has drowned in the Fish River at Keetmanshoop.

The body of Mathias Ndakukamo was recovered on Saturday.

* A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with rape at Tses on Thursday.

The suspect allegedly raped a 40-year-old woman after threatening her.

* Police at Okahandja are investigating the alleged rape of an 81-year-old woman at a house there on Sunday late afternoon.

The identity of the suspect is not known.

* A 12-year-old girl drowned in a pool in Pionierspark on Monday afternoon.

The deceased, identified as Sara Kalangula, was apparently out swimming with her brother.
