Time For Unam To Shape Up

ALLOW me to share my views with the public on an issue that I believe has not only affected me, but a lot of other people out there.

I have questions about the way the University of Namibia operates.

We have seen, year in and year out, how the registration process brings chaos in terms of long queues, and the way students are not well informed about the procedures for the application of exemptions.

Why has the university not employed some kind of online registration system at least for the senior students in order to avoid the chaotic situation that arises every year at registration? The university, I believe, has an information technology department that has the resources to implement such a system.

Because of the long queues the registration dates are often pushed forward and this sometimes affects academic timetables.

Students apply for exemptions at the time of registration and this brings confusion since sometimes they expect to be exempted and they are not, and then they would have missed a lot of classes because it takes ages before they are informed about the outcome of their applications! I believe it's about time the university of Namibia improved their service delivery.

Frankly, in that department they are behind an elementary school! Kingsley Gwala, Unam
