Gambling house fight ends in death

JOSEPH Amon (25) was shot in the head by a security guard at Independence Gambling House in Windhoek at around 21h00 on Friday.

It is alleged that Amon refused to be searched by the security guard and a quarrel erupted, the Police reported yesterday.

Amon died at the Katutura hospital shortly afterwards.

* An 85-year-old woman at Otandu village was allegedly raped by her grandson last week Wednesday between 12h00 and 13h00.

A charge was laid at the Tsandi Police station.

* A 21-year-old woman was raped in the bushes near Concordia College in Windhoek on Thursday between 18h00 and 19h00.

Three men threatened her with a knife before raping her.

The victim was on her way home from NamCol College, where she attended classes.

No arrest has been made and Police investigations continue.

* A young man was shot and wounded after he and his two brothers were involved in a scuffle with the City Police around 14h15 on Saturday near Festus Indongo Bar in Katutura.

The City Police drove past the place and noticed an argument was going on between the three brothers and the community.

One of the brothers was accused of having stolen a cellphone from a customer at the bar.

One of the brothers was shot and wounded, allegedly by a member of the City Police.

THREE SUICIDES * A young Rehoboth man, Heinrich Gregor Kassen (24), allegedly hanged himself over the weekend.

He was found on the C-25 trunk road just outside the town, Chief Inspector Angula Amulungu, the head of the Police Public Relations said.

"He was found around 16h00 on Saturday afternoon.

He did not leave a note, but it is alleged that he at one time indicated he was tired of living," Amulungu told reporters.

* In Lemon Street, Katutura, the body of Piet Dirksen (79) was found hanging in a storage room on Friday around 14h00.

He allegedly used an electrical cable to hang himself.

* At Onandjila village in the Okahao constituency, the body of 37-year-old Jonas Natangwe Iileka was found hanging from a tree on Thursday.
