'We need to invest more in children'

TANJA BAUSE

THE Old Mutual Foundation has donated stationery and school uniforms to the Dolam Children's Home in Katutura.

The home currently cares for 18 orphans and vulnerable children from the ages of five upwards.

"A sense of social responsibility is absolutely central to our objectives in Namibia.

We are proud of our social responsibility and sponsorship programmes, which represent a high level of community involvement," said the Executive Manager of Old Mutual Marketing, Nangula Kauluma-Gontes.

She also said that the opportunity to enhance the lives of Namibians, especially those outside of the company's normal business circle, was an exciting privilege.

"We at Old Mutual believe that it makes sound economic sense to invest in children.

They are the future.

But children also have the right to grow up healthy, hopeful and educated so that they can realise their own potential.

Breaking the cycle of child poverty will benefit the community as a whole.

Children are the future of all of us.

We need to work with them not just for them," Kauluma-Gontes added.
