NDMC warns Swapo

STAFF REPORTER

"INTOLERANT" and "undemocratic" utterances by the youth wing of the ruling Swapo Party against the new opposition party Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) will eventually destroy Swapo, as it bordered on autocracy and totalitarianism, an opposition party has warned.

"We of the Namibia Democratic Movement for Change (NDMC) say a beast is getting destroyed by what is in its own stomach and the utterances of the SPYL are what will eventually destroy Swapo," said NDMC Secretary General Joseph Kauandenge in a statement on Saturday.

"We dismiss in the strongest possible terms the current media campaign of Swapo, targeting and labelling anyone who dares to have a different view as being supporters of RDP.

Such acts border on autocracy and totalitarian regimes, which unfortunately have no place in the 21st Century," Kauandenge stated.

He hinted at a recent SPYL statement which called on the Government secret service to spy on RDP members because they allegedly favoured the idea to secede the Caprivi Region from the rest of Namibia.

"Namibia cannot afford chaos and anarchy like in present Kenya where some politicians' lust for power has blinded them to such an extent that innocent lives are lost, just to satisfy their lust," Kauandenge added.
