4th suspect added to Keetmans fraud case

LUQMAN CLOETE at KEETMANSHOOP

POLICE at Keetmanshoop arrested a fourth suspect on Tuesday in connection with the theft of more than N$700 000 at the Keetmanshoop Municipality over a period of seven months last year.

Ingrid Coleman yesterday appeared before Divisional Magistrate Alfred Siboleka in the Keetmanshoop's Magistrate's Court to be added as an accused in the case against the three other suspects, who were arrested in November last year.

The suspects are set to appear in court on February 6.

The three other suspects are Tommy Coleman, also an employee of the municipality, his ex-girlfriend Reanette April and a friend of Coleman, Hendrik Veldskoen.

The three are out on bail.

On Wednesday, Siboleka granted Ingrid Coleman bail of N$15 000 on condition that she does not interfere with the Police investigation or contact any State witness or complainant.

In 2001, Coleman, a supervisor in the municipality's finance department, was allegedly involved in the misappropriation of municipal money.

Although she was found guilty during an internal disciplinary hearing, the court found her not guilty.

More arrests are expected, The Namibian was informed.
