Two shot in shop robbery

STAFF REPORTER

TWO people were shot during a robbery at the MK Special Feeling Mini Market in the northern village of Eunda on Friday.

According to the Police, a man wearing a balaclava entered the shop and threatened two shopkeepers and customers with a knife.

One of the customers, a 23-year-old man, tried to run out of the shop but was shot by a second suspect who was standing outside the shop with an AK-47.

The customer died on the scene.

During the shooting, the gunman accidentally shot his alleged accomplice in the head before escaping from the scene.

The masked man was hospitalised and is reportedly in a stable condition.

He is expected to make his first court appearance upon his release.

The Omusati Police commander, Deputy Commissioner Nandime Shinedime said two more people are expected to be arrested in connection with the crimes, which include armed robbery, murder and attempted murder.
