League kick-off in September

THE Namibia Premier League (NPL) has announced that the league will start on September 12.

A media statement issued by NPL media officer Meke Namindo on Monday states that the league will be launched on September 10.

She said the window period for player transfers is still ongoing and will end on September 30.

She also announced that the NPL's Annual General Assembly meeting will be held on Saturday.

"Despite the in-depth discussions planned for this meeting, the two candidates for the NPL chairmanship, Peter van Wyk and Hendrik Dawids, will be expected to make presentations on how they aim to transform the NPL," she stated.

She also revealed that the Board of Governors (BoG) was brought up to date regarding the outstanding payments to Civics and Orlando Pirates after the season ended last month.

"They accepted that the two clubs have agreed to only receive half of the payments and also that they (clubs) have agreed to wait for the final payment to be paid during the month of September," she said.
