Louw misses final

BEIJING - Namibian long jumper Stephan Louw missed the final of the Olympic Games men's long jump event by one centimetre.

Louw's best jump on Saturday evening was 7,93 metres, which put him in 13th place overall, but only the first 12 jumpers went through to the final to be held today.

The best jump for the jumper in position number 12 was 7,94m.

The Namibian first jumped 7,73m, then had a faulty jump and then leapt to 7,93m in his third and last attempt.

Although it is a far cry from his personal best of 8,24m, Louw tried his best.The best jump on the night was 8,27m by Louis Tsatoumas from Greece.
