Training modules designed to educate owners about health and safety issues at workplaces were rolled out at Katima Mulilo, Rundu, Ongwediva, Grootfontein and Otjiwarongo. The Construction Industries Federation, in collaboration with DED and GTZ for the German government, conducted training for about 70 company owners of small and medium construction companies. A basic first-aid course that is often neglected in these firms was explained. Company owners also received protective gear such as dust respirators. Sabine Greschek from the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry estimated that the costs of these workshops was about N$20 000. |
