SMS of the Day : Tuesday

* THE fact that Government forgot about the bursaries is a crime against 100 Namibian students. Hope somebody is going to get prosecuted.

* OLYMPIC Games. How is it possible that Namibian athletes were late for the bus taking them to the starting point. Is this the African time belief where we are always late and expect to be right? Fire the entire management team. They are a disgrace to our country.

Food For Thought

* IS Namibia still a democratic country after the request made by [Swapo] leaders at the rally at Omuthiya? People let's open our eyes and minds before it's too late. Together we can rescue our beautiful country. Leaders make way for changes. - Concerned Kunene

General

* OSHIKE, the African continent to emulate China's ideology and principles? The above suggestion was made by the writer of a recent SMS which said: "China was once like Africa but dynamic and visionary leadership has transformed China to a superpower". He/she went on: "We Namibians should work closely with Chinese and learn the human principles to transform Namibia into Africa's China." Africa's China?? Now, by dynamic and visionary leadership, is she/he referring to the past communist leadership or to the present capitalist leadership? Secondly, what human principles could Namibia learn from China?

* PLEASE Namibian traffic do something about the Wernhil taxi rank. Taxi drivers are fighting every day over customers, grabbing them out of other taxis.

* TCL PENSIONS. Can you please investigate this matter thoroughly? The implication is just too terrible to even think about. People being defrauded of their old-age benefits?

* DOES Unam have a management or academic standard? Whether full-time or part-time students, they suffer from a lack of course outlines, authentic attendance list where a roll-call has to be done and the prescribed textbooks. It is also an issue of excessive absence of some lecturers.

* WE are ready and willing to serve the nation. When will the training start for army recruits?

In And From The Regions

* I AM really concerned about the Swapo Government. There is no development in our region, Karas. Why do our people struggle in the region while we are rich in natural resources?

* I WOULD like to thank the Government for renovating the road from Omafo to Omaboolota (Omungwelume). But what is disappointing is that the road in the oshana called Matako was washed away by water because of two small bridges which cannot accommodate the capacity of water in that oshana. These construction companies, when are they going to put in more bridges? Do these people measure and forecast the rainfall and temperature for years to come? Please let us do what is helping our nation. - A concerned citizen

Bouquets And Brickbats

* I WAS very disappointed about today's paper. No news about the SADC summit, no results for English Premier League. We need the latest news please. - Washington, Otavi - Thank you for keeping us on our toes. We'll do better. - News Editor

Education

* TRAINEES at Okakarara VTC never know how much we are getting for our loans and we never get our refunds and we are never given attachment money. Who is responsible for all this? - Trainee, Okakarara VTC

* PLEASE Anti-Corruption Commission, visit the Omusati Education Office. The phones are cut. Please help.

* I READ that our Ministry of Education is still sending people to study in Zimbabwe and people are still recruiting students for private colleges! As we all know, the most qualified teachers were forced out of the country and are trying to get jobs abroad. Why should we send our kids to schools without teachers? Why don't we create opportunities so those qualified professionals stop selling airtime and, instead, help us in different areas?

Titus's Troubles

* IS the ACC only there to spy on GRN vehicle misuse? If so, they must close their doors. Titus Haimbili is by far the best thing that has ever happened to TransNamib, some are trying to tarnish the good the man is trying to achieve.

* I HAVE been working for 25 years for TransNamib and Titus Haimbili is the first man to make good change in this company. Now we in the north want him back in his place.

Service Please

* TELECOM. Anyone else having problems with the ADSL service provided by Telecom? Constant service interruption with Telecom not being able to fix. Incompetence.
