Aupindi said the Onkoshi Camp will provide 40 full-time jobs while 400 jobs will be created during its construction.

He said the camp was historic, as it was the first tourism facility to be built in Etosha since Independence.

NWR's three resorts in Etosha, Namutoni, Halali and Okaukuejo, were all built before Independence.

He said the 15-room camp would be built in an eco-friendly manner, using natural materials.

It will cost N$18 million.

"We believe that to allow a big number of visitors will destroy the environment.

Quality should be the name of the game, not quantity," said Aupindi.

He said the camp would be located in an isolated area where no self-drive visitors were allowed.

Visitors to the camp will park their cars at Namutoni and will be transported to the camp by NWR staff.

Aupindi said this would be done to ensure that the camp's environment was not disturbed.

The newly appointed Minister of Environment and Tourism, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, will officiate at the ground-breaking ceremony tomorrow.

Construction will start immediately after the ground-breaking ceremony and Aupindi said the camp would be built in a record time of four months.
