Dicing with death

THE son of a Keetmanshoop businessman, Diego Brown, died in a head-on collision in the town's Sam Nujoma Drive in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Brown, who would have turned 20 this month, died instantly when his bakkie collided with a truck at about 03h00, the acting regional Police Commander, Nicky Nampala, said yesterday.

Brown and the driver of another car had apparently been racing down the street, using both traffic lanes, when his bakkie crashed into an oncoming truck on a curve in the street.

It took the fire brigade an hour to cut Brown's body from the wreckage, Nampala said.
