No leads in farm murder

DENVER ISAACS

POLICE in the Omaheke Region are hard at work trying to trace the killer or killers of 66-year-old Anna Jacoba Reed at a farm near Leonardville, south of Gobabis.

Reed was murdered between Thursday evening and Friday morning at her home on the farm Arib.

She had been beaten in the face, a Police officer from Gobabis said, and possibly died as a result of strangulation.

By yesterday afternoon, Police at Gobabis and Leonardville were still on the scene of the crime, but no progress in finding the suspects could be reported.

According to Reed's relatives, only a pair of binoculars, a small moneybox and a dress appeared to be missing from her home.

Reports that three men had been arrested in connection with the murder were incorrect, Omaheke Police spokesperson Michael Matengu said on Monday.

According to him, Reed's murderer was still at large.

Her family plan to bury Reed at Gobabis today.
