A shooting incident at a house in Orwetoveni at Otjiwarongo in the early morning hours of Friday claimed one life, according to the weekend crime bulletin released by a Police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Angula Amulungu, in Windhoek yesterday. Amulungu reported that at about 02h30 on Friday, an unknown person was seen trying to open a bedroom window at a house at Orwetoveni from the outside. The owner of the house shot at the person, who ran off. The owner notified the Police, who found a person dead outside the yard when they arrived at the scene. The person had a gunshot wound to the head, and was identified as Katjerua Kamuingona. The Police have started with a murder investigation, it was announced. * At Walvis Bay at about 03h00 on Saturday, a man was shot dead after he allegedly stabbed a Police officer three times in the shoulder. According to Amulungu, the man had allegedly reacted violently when he was asked to drop a beer bottle with which he had been found in the street. He is claimed to have charged at a Police officer, who fell while retreating from the man, after which the man allegedly stabbed the officer. He was then shot. The Police officer has been admitted to a Walvis Bay Hospital. The name of the man who lost his life in the incident had not been announced by late yesterday. A murder investigation has also been launched in connection with that incident. * The weekend's third fatality was registered at Rehoboth, where the body of a 25-year-old man, Cecil Manfred Drotsky, was found at the town's Echo Service Station at about 03h30 on Saturday. Drotsky had stab wounds to his head and upper left arm, Amulungu announced. The Police are investigating a charge of murder in connection with his death. |
