Man held for dropping baby

STAFF REPORTER

POLICE in the Kavango Region have arrested a 26-year-old man for the murder of a two-month-old baby, after he allegedly threw the child on the ground last Wednesday.

The baby's mother apparently asked the man to hold the baby for her, the Police reported yesterday.

He was arrested on Friday.

The incident happened at Mpungu village, about 200 km west of Rundu.

* A 20-year-old man is being treated in the Opuwo State hospital after allegedly stabbing himself repeatedly in the chest on Saturday night.

The man is said to have stabbed himself three times with an Okapi knife, and is reported to be in critical condition.

* A 16-year-old boy was arrested at Opuwo on Saturday, after he allegedly killed a 25-year-old man by stabbing him in the chest.

The victim died on his way to hospital.

* Police at Karibib have reported that they discovered eight head of stolen cattle tied up in a riverbed on Thursday.

The cattle, worth an estimated N$20 000, have been impounded while the Police wait for their owners to claim them.

No case of stock theft has been laid.
