Chefs dish up fine fare for less privileged

TANJA BAUSE

The Namibian Chefs Association on Friday participated for the first time in International Chefs Day, which is celebrated across the world.

The main aim of this day is for chefs from all across the globe to come together and raise awareness of their profession, while also doing their bit for charity and needy communities.

Namibia's Senior Chef of the Year, Hantie Boltmann, prepared a delicious spaghetti bolognaise dish for needy people in the village of Gochas.

Boltmann delivered the meals to Pally Carstens Primary School, the Ouab Plaat and ELK Kindergarten.

The senior citizens of Gochas were invited to enjoy their meal at Stoney's Hotel.

At the coast, Namibian Chefs Association President Hugo Hayes served a curry dish to the handicapped children of the Sunshine School in Walvis Bay.

In Windhoek, Terry Jenkinson of The Bistro served savoury scones and a beef-and-vegetable soup at two children's shelters, the Orlindi Place of Safety and The Vision Life Project, in Katutura.

The Namibian Chefs Association has thanked its members for their input, as well as the various sponsors of the event.

African Marketing supported the project in all the regions.

The association hopes that all its members will participate next year to support charitable organisations in their towns and regions.
