THE Ohlthaver & List Group of Companies has embarked on a N$115 million project called 'Wernhil Under Construction'.

The project will be managed by Broll Namibia Property Management, the leasing agents of O & L.

The project, which started on Thursday, involves the renovation and extension of the current Wernhil Park shopping centre and parking area.

Phase one of the renovations was completed in June 2005 and it mainly involved the expansion of Model Pick 'n Pay and the addition of 220 parking bays.

Phase two involves the extension of the current retail area from 18 000 square metres to 24 000 square metres.

The overall refurbishment of the existing centre and reconfiguration of the mall areas will incorporate design aspects and features reflecting Namibia's kaleidoscope of colours.

Another parking deck will be built onto of the existing one, making provision for a further 220 parking bays.

Phase two is expected to be completed in June 2007.

Approximately 400 jobs will be created during the duration of the development.

Free parking is offered to all Wernhil customers until the end of November this year.

The centre will remain open for business throughout the construction and experienced personnel will be on hand to guide shoppers through the construction.

O&L says the development is in line with its vision of strengthening the central business district of Windhoek and maintaining its market share.
