Thursday, March 16, 2006 - Web posted at 7:15:58 GMT Brazil wants GMO food labelling rules RIO DE JANEIRO - Brazil has proposed a compromise over genetically modified foods that would protect commercial interests while requiring them to be labelled on foods as potentially dangerous. |
|
At a meeting of the signatories to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, Brazil, one of the leading producers of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) used in foods, proposed a global regime in which foods with GMOs are labelled "contains GMO."
