Fake SA rands in Omusati

* OSWALD SHIVUTE at OSHAKATI

POLICE in the Omusati Region have warned people to be on the lookout for counterfeit South African banknotes.

Constable Linekela Shikongo told The Namibian that Nestor Petrus (23) was arrested on December 24 last year while he was trying to buy beer in a bar at Ogongo village with a fake R200 note.

The observant bartender noticed that the money looked odd and called the Police.

According to Constable Shikongo, Petrus appeared in the Outapi Magistrate's Court on December 27.

He was not asked to plead and the case was postponed to April 5 this year for further investigation.

Petrus was not granted bail and remains in Police custody at Outapi.

Constable Shikongo says Petrus was found in possession of 110 fake R200 notes.
