Namibia at AU summit in Sudan

THE Minister of Foreign Affairs Marco Hausiku heads the Namibian delegation to the African Union summit that started in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, on Monday.

Hausiku was delegated to represent Namibia at the two-day summit by President Hifikepunye Pohamba, who could not attend the meeting due to other urgent commitments, officials at the Office of the President told Nampa.

The heads of state of the 53 African Union member states are meeting in Khartoum to discuss the recommendations of the eighth ordinary session of the AU Executive Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers.

The foreign affairs ministers discussed issues related to the African Court on Human and People's Rights, a language plan of action for Africa, migration on the African continent as well as the political and economic integration of the continent.

The AU summit is scheduled to end this afternoon and the Namibian delegation will return home later this week.
