Business as usual at retail union: Mabuku

A RUMOUR that the offices of the Namibia Wholesale and Retail Workers' Union (NWRWU) are closing for three months was flatly dismissed by the union yesterday.

At a press conference in Windhoek, NWRWU Acting Secretary General Richard Mabuku said it was a lie.

He said the union has a constitution that prescribes procedures of dissolution, which can only be decided by the union's congress.

He called on members to be vigilant when approached by those he labelled "hungry lions who only want to demolish" the union and steal its members.

"We know who know who you are.

You have done it in the past and you have failed.

We know that you are going to fail again," said Mabuku.

He said NWRWU offices are open all over the country, except at Luederitz, and members are welcome to use them as usual.
