Erastus Negonga made the call while addressing the communities and councillors during his visit to the three newly proclaimed villages in the Omusati Region on Thursday and Friday. Negonga urged the residents and councillors to avoid confrontation and to always work hand-in-hand so that the development goals and programmes of their young villages could be carried out unhindered. On one hand Negonga wants to see the councillors of the three villages to consult communities in carrying out their development programmes, while on the other hand appealing to the communities to refrain from erecting structures without the consent of their village councils. He believes this is important if confrontation between councillors and community members, which some other villages and towns in the country are faced with, is to be avoided. The new local authorities at Oshikuku, Okahao and Ruacana were established after elections on December 17 last year. On Friday, Safety and Security Minister Peter Tsheehama also visited Oshikuku to exchange views with the community. - Nampa |
