Body of boy found in pond

THE body of a three-year-old boy was discovered in a pond in the North on Tuesday.

Police identified the boy as Antonio Mwaloloka and said the incident occurred at a village in the Ohangwena Region.

No further details are available.

* A 48-year-old South African citizen died on Sunday after his car overturned about 60 kilometres outside of Oranjemund.

The deceased, Michiel John Cousins, died in the Namdeb hospital at Oranjemund.

* A 65-year-old man from a village near Okahao died on Sunday after he hanged himself from a tree.

He was identified as Petrus Kadhila.

* Police at Okahandja have opened a case of culpable homicide after Hendrik Matheus (35) died in a head-on collision between a minibus and a lorry on the Windhoek-Okahandja road.

Matengu said Matheus was in a minibus that was being towed by a bakkie.

The driver of bakkie suddenly braked and Matheus apparently tried to swerve to avoid crashing into the rear of the bakkie.

In the process, the minibus collided head-on with an oncoming lorry.

Matheus died on the spot.

* The Police in the North report that 28-year-old Iiyambo Iithika committed suicide by hanging himself in his hut at Uukwaludhi on Wednesday morning.

* A 21-year-old woman from Oshakati and a 35-year-old man from Okahao in the North hanged themselves on Thursday and Wednesday a week ago.

Loinni Uupindi died after hanging herself from a tree, while Ambrosius Kauko hanged himself from the roof of his hut in Okahao.
